The Cups are more popular than ever

Although the cars of the R5/Rally2-category will once again be the headliner of the South Belgian Rally 2023, make no mistake about it: there will be some great fighting at all levels! This will notably be the case in two increasingly successful competitions: the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux and the Moood M-Cup!

In the Cup reserved for the Peugeot 208 and Opel Corsa Rally4 cars, the entry list is already more than promising. Stripped of his crown at the end of last season, German Marijan Griebel has decided to set the record straight. He will therefore be part of the Cup again, just like Austrian Julian Wagner, one of last year’s best performers. Both will be at the wheel of a Peugeot 208 Rally4.

They will face some stalwarts of the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux, such as Harry Bouillon (Opel) and Maxim Decock (Opel). But there are some rookies as well. Although this list is by no means exhaustive, we note the names of Benjamin Bosseloir (Peugeot), the son of Didier, Corentin Fiasse (Peugeot), Tom Heindrichs (Opel), who is none other than the half-brother of a certain Thierry Neuville, or even David Drieskens (Peugeot).

As for Sébastien Bedoret (Opel), who has competed several times in the premier category of the BRC during recent years, he will also serve as a benchmark by mixing with the pack, from the kick-off in Vresse-sur-Semois

He’s proof of the formula’s international interest and Irish Niall O’Sullivan (Peugeot) also intends to spend most of his season on Belgium’s rally roads. He will in any case at the start in Vresse-sur-Semois

Having started in the Haspengouw Rally, the Moood M-Cup is already preparing its second round. In the ranks of these powerful rear-wheel drive Bavarian cars are Franky Boulat (M3 E36), multiple champion in the discipline, Philip Lommers (M3 E36), Dany Claesen (Compact E36), Brecht Hoorne (M3 E36), Jens Neskens (M3 E36) and Gregory Vanovertveld (1M).

The most motivated among them will undoubtedly be local specialist Loïc Pirot (M3 Compact E46), keen to aim for a podium finish after his 4th place at Haspengouw.
