A Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup in several rounds of the BRC 2023

23 december 2022

Not content with setting up the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux, pitting the Peugeot 208 Rally4 and Opel Corsa Rally4 against one another, Pole Position is once again making the headlines by unveiling a Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup! As the name suggests, the competition, held over certain rounds of the Belgian Rally Championship 2023, will exclusively be open to Citroën C3 Rally2 machines

The Citroën C3 Rally2’s success in BRC has been amply demonstrated, Jean-François Elst, in the name of Pole Position explained. This prompted us to set up a competition opposing these machines of the latest generation. Given to understand that the Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup 2023 will be reserved for non-professional drivers. Drivers who are or have carried the colours of a manufacturer in Rally1 or Rally2 will therefore not be able to notch up results in this competition. “

In concrete terms, the Citroën C3 Rally Cup 2023 will be held around five events, for a total of six results. The South Belgian Rally (18/03), the TAC Rally (08/04), the Rallye de Wallonie (29-30/04), the Ypres Rally (23-24/06), the East Belgian Rally (23/09) and the Spa Rally (25-26/11) are the events retained. For the final round, the Spa Rally, the points system will be doubled, with a first ranking at the end of the first stage, and a second ranking at the end of the event. To be included in the final rankings, the participants will need to have competed in five of the six rounds, of which the final Spa Rally round is a mandatory part. The five best results will be retained.

At the end of the season the rewards will be substantial … “The winner of the Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup will in fact receive a cheque amounting to 40,000 Euro, Jean-François Elst continued, with 20,000 Euro for the second placed in the rankings. A third cheque, amounting to 15,000 Euro, will be awarded to another ranked competitor … and drawn at random!”

Worth noting also that the participation in the Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup is registered as from the moment an annual registration fee of 500 euros per driver is settled.

With the birth of this Citroën C3 Rally2 Cup, there promises to be a fair number of seasoned drivers on the Belgian special stages in 2023…
