Alex Caffi Motorsports en route to the NWES finals in Zolder

16 oktober 2018

Montecarlo, 16 october 2018. Alex Caffi Motorsports is on its way to the last round of the 2018 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series on the Belgian track of Zolder. For the team of Monegasque former F1 driver, Alex Caffi, after a season full of victories, this is the chance to fight for various trophies in which its drivers are starring. In Elite 1 Japanese driver Kenko Miura, supported by the Japanese manufacturer, will race with the number 2 Toyota Camry, aiming for the Challenger Trophy where he is currently second in the standings, while the number 1 Ford Mustang welcomes the return of Finn Henri Tuoomala after his winning debut amongst Challengers in Hockenheim. In Elite 2 one Ford Mustang will be for Carmen Boix Gil, the young Spanish leading the Lady Trophy, the other Ford will be driven by Italian Pier Luigi Veronesi while Kenko Miura will use the Toyota Camry. Another important challenge in the Elite Club, with the family fight between Indian driver Advait Deodhar (Ford Mustang) and the division’s defending champion, Austrian Andreas Kuchelbacher (Toyota Camry); the second Mustang will be driven by local  Jerome Francois. The series born in the USA, with rear-wheel drive cars and powerful 5.7-litre Chevrolet engines, which guarantee spectacular duels on the track, reaches the final round after the four races of the regular season and the playoffs in Hockenheim. The races will be broadcast live on the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series website.

Alex Caffi said “After the championship won with Carmen last year, this time we aim at three titles. Personally, I particularly stand by Kenko who has grown a lot this season and is aiming for the first time at a prestigious title, the second in importance after the overall crown. Unfortunately in Hockenheim bad luck, a differential failure, prevented him from taking a precious victory, here I trust he can fight on equal terms. Carmen Boix Gil can repeat her 2017 Lady title, while in Elite Club it will be a family fight, I will try not to cheer on anyone and may the best man win. Moreover, winners will then have some opportunities to enter the Nascar world, thanks to the close cooperation between NWES and Nascar, something unique and that no other championship in Europe currently offers. We are working for 2019, after only two seasons in the NWES we have proved to be a winning team. Now all we need is a driver capable of fighting for the overall title, and we are working to get one for next year. In the meantime, all team members are very motivated for the final challenges of 2018”.
