Treviso (Italy), September 26, 2016. Scuderia Villorba Corse drivers Patrick Zamparini and Luca Anselmi scored a commanding victory with their Maserati GranTurismo MC in the second race of the Competition102 GT4 European Series at the Hungaroring on Sunday, September 25. The Italian team was denied another expected win on Saturday after suffering a slow puncture when they were leading race-1, but bounced back during the final race of the weekend to claim its second victory of the season. In Hungary Villorba Corse crew also took pole position for both races during the qualifying sessions and set the fastest lap on Saturday’s race. These achievements highlight Villorba Corse and Maserati dominated the fifth round of the SRO-promoted championship for GT4-spec cars and now the team lead by Raimondo Amadio looks forward to the final two races of the 2016 season, which will take place in The Netherlands, at Circuit Park Zandvoort (October, 7-9).

Team Principal Amadio says: “In race-2 everything went in the right way, at last. The whole team did a great job and this result gives us the right confidence for the final round at Zandvoort. In Hungary we shown competitiveness through the whole weekend and only a puncture denied us of another 25 points for the championship. We must be very proud of that.

Zamparini adds: “We had two pole positions, we set the fastest lap in Saturday’s race. We were really unlucky because we had a blown tyre. On Sunday Luca struggled a bit in the first part, because the others were on new tyres while we had used ones from race-1. When I went in I knew I was faster than the others, but we were a bit lucky today with the safety car. I pushed for a few laps and then tried to make it to the end. It has been a great weekend, if we had not blown the tyres on Saturday we would have been on top of the podium as well”.

Anselmi ends: “We knew that this circuit didn’t really suit the Maserati, but we did a really good job. The car was perfect since the very first lap I did. I had some problems with the tyres in the first couple of laps of race-2, but when you win it is all good!”.
