Jorge Rodrigues and Patrick Cunha will defend the GT4 Bronze title they won last year in Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade.
The duo from the city of Braga was one of the formidable forces on the starting grid last season, consistently contending for the top positions against strong opposition, ultimately securing their division’s title in the final round of the year.
For 2024, the Portuguese duo will undertake the challenge once again, driving the Audi R8 LMS GT4 under the support of Veloso Motorsport. Both drivers are confident of a successful season, echoing the achievements of last year.
Jorge Rodrigues reveals that he is “very happy to be able to repeat the championship with the Audi assisted by Veloso Motorsport. I’m very pleased to see the increasing interest in the championship from other drivers and teams, as it’s becoming more and more the benchmark competition on the Iberian Peninsula, both in terms of quantity and quality. We know the championship is going to be even more competitive with the new teams of drivers making their debut this year, but we believe we can repeat last year’s successes”.
Teammate Patrick Cunha admits that the competition will be stronger than ever in 2024, but that doesn’t scare him. “Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade are full of health and this is reflected in the starting grids, which will be even more competitive this year. This motivates us even more to improve and fight for good results in each race. I feel that this year we’re even better prepared and we believe that, with the Audi and Veloso Motorsport, Jorge and I will even be able to fight for overall victories”, he said.
The inaugural race of the 2024 Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España season will take place at the Circuito de Jerez (Spain) on May 25th and 26th.
